Welcome to the Enactus Macquarie newsletter! Firstly, we want to thank you for all your support by visiting our stalls and attending our events, and in return, we want to support you! Here you will find the latest news about our organisation and our projects, and the amazing opportunities for you to get involved. You will find exciting updates, including social and professional events, volunteer opportunities and industry updates, keeping you in the loop of what Enactus Macquarie is up to and how you can be a part of it.
These opportunities will help you develop personal and professional skills, and provide you experiences and knowledge, beneficial when entering the workforce. Message From Our President
To say these are interesting times would be an understatement. With the uncertainty and changes with the COVID-19 virus, our hearts go out to those directly impacted and those in the frontlines of our community. Although this has been a stressful time, Enactus MQ continues to strive to make a positive social impact. The constantly evolving situation is testing our team’s resilience and creativity, and I’m proud to say that we are still going strong! From project pivots to finding new ways to connect - I hope this newsletter will reveal that despite going through a period of physical isolation, there are more opportunities to become united as a community. On that note, I’m also excited to announce that our team will shortly be recruiting new members - so keep an eye out for more to come!

Nhuubala Yugal Education Centre (NYEC) provides a secondary education platform tailored towards the needs of rural and Indigenous students in northwest NSW communities, many of whom are disconnected by the current school system.
NYEC disrupts the traditional model of curriculum delivery and behavioural management to increase student engagement and learning. By adopting a relational approach to education, we provide a safe and supportive learning environment, keeping young people off the streets and striving towards their dreams.

PeerLink is a mentoring program that aims to improve the mental wellbeing of students and reduce the negative stigma surrounding mental health. We do this through our 6 week mentoring program. During this time, mentees are supported by a peer mentor in a structured and safe environment, covering topics such as study habits, work-life balance, stress-management, and self-care. Mentors also benefit through training and mentoring sessions that enhance communication and active listening skills.

The Women's Creative Hub empowers refugee women by providing them with opportunities to be creative, utilise their talents and generate income. WCH seeks to encourage financial independence, social connection and diversity. This is achieved through enabling women to share and learn craft, professional and cooking skills with the potential to develop as entrepreneurs. The Women’s Creative Hub (“WCH”) is run by the House of Welcome in partnership with the Community Migrant Resource Centre and Enactus Macquarie. Launching in 2016, WCH has grown immensely to where it is today. In this growth, WCH has expanded launching a catering program, A Little Something (ALS). ALS is a catering program which also runs cooking classes, run by vulnerable new settler women (migrants, refugees and asylum seekers), aiming to connect them to the wider community. With a volunteer group page opened on social media, many individuals have joined the women in the catering program, learning about the diversity of the womens' cultures, and immersing themselves in rich culture and the art of unique foods.
